Dr. Benton grew up in Connecticut, and went to college in Appleton, Wisconsin, where he studied physics. He obtained his medical degree at the University of Connecticut, School of Medicine. He then spent seven years at Brown University Medical Center in Providence, RI, where he completed his residency, chief residency, and fellowship in Hematology and Oncology. He is also board-certified in Palliative and Hospice Medicine.
Dr. Benton focuses on treatment of lymphoma, and cancers of the lung, prostate and gastrointestinal tract.
He has traveled extensively, living in Poland for two years and working in Kenya during his residency. He moved to Maine in 2007 with his wife and two sons.

Dr. Boland grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and completed medical school at the University of Minnesota and residency at NYU Langone. He completed his Hematology and Oncology fellowship at Lineberger Cancer Center with the University of North Carolina.
Dr. Boland appreciates NECS’ unique team-based approach to cancer care and healing. His experience with clinical trials drew him to NECS for the depth of our research program and unique association with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He said, “We apply groundbreaking research across multiple specialties to serve as a reliable, hopeful force for each patient and their family.”
When asked about his philosophy of care, Dr. Boland says that “regardless of the care plan I suggest to the patient, I want them to know that they are always in the driver's seat,” following up with “it’s about helping them make the best decision consistent with their wishes and goals.”
Dr. Boland loves to read and has a passion for philosophy, politics, and economics. He also enjoys running, hiking, and trying new local restaurants.
Danielle F. Bowen NP

Danielle is originally from Massachusetts and graduated from the University of Rhode Island. She moved to Maine in 2001 and began working at New England Cancer Specialists in 2002. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Southern Maine in 2005, and has since become an Oncology Certified Nurse and an affiliate member of ASCO (American Society of Clinical Oncology). She resides in Freeport with her lobsterman husband, two boys and dog.
She enjoys being outdoors year-round, skiing, jogging, hiking, and spending time at her husband’s family home on Chebeague Island.

Dr. Dennis is passionate about improving the lives of her patients. She leads two clinical programs at NECS: a high-risk program that focuses on early detection and risk reduction, and our survivorship program for patients who have moved past their cancer treatment and are focusing on their long-term health and any lifestyle adjustments that may be needed.
Dr. Dennis completed her medical education at Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Illinois, followed by an Internal Medicine residency at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, which is affiliated with Columbia University in upstate New York. She most recently served as the director of an adult cancer survivorship program before joining NECS.
Dr. Dennis is married with two sons and two dachshunds. Away from the office, you're likely to find her outdoors, traveling, or indulging in her passion for ballroom dancing.

Dr. Haney grew up in Massachusetts and attended Boston College. He completed his master’s degree in Philadelphia and MCP Hahneman University, and graduated from medical school at the University of New England.
After that, he entered the Army, and completed his residency and fellowship training at San Antonio Military Medical Center. He served as a staff oncologist in the military from 2013 (including a deployment to Afghanistan in 2014) until joining New England Cancer Specialists in July 2017. While in the military, Dr. Haney was involved in several large lung cancer research studies, and served as the associate program director for the hematology/oncology fellowship program at San Antonio Military Medical Center, beginning in July 2015.
Dr. Haney has a wife and two sons, and is glad to have resumed playing ice hockey since moving to Maine.

Jaime grew up in Maine and graduated from Westbrook High School. She used to come into New England Cancer Specialists with her dad, who had Colon Cancer. She began her undergraduate degree in Florida at Eckerd College, and studied biology, pre-med. She moved home to be with her family at the end of her dad’s illness and finished her degree at USM. She worked as an EMT and an ED tech through college and decided to go to PA school. She went to UNE, and graduated in 2007. Given her love of emergency medicine and her personal history with oncology, she was able to work in both fields. She worked at the new Alfond Center for Cancer Care in Belgrade, ME and was per diem in the ED at Mercy Hospital and then Mid Coast Hospital. She came to work at New England Cancer Specialists in 2011, and moved to Cumberland to be closer to her family.
She is married to a wonderful man, and welcomed her beautiful son Grayson Reed in 2013. In her spare time she loves to visit the beaches and lakes, and tries to seek warm destinations over the cold winter months!
Teresa Sirois NP

A native of Maine, Teresa graduated from Windham High School. While pursuing her undergraduate degree at St. Michael’s College in Vermont, she joined the St. Michael’s Fire and Rescue Squad, which was the beginning of her career in medicine. After earning her master’s degree in nursing at the University of Southern Maine, she became a family nurse practitioner, starting with five years in family practice at a federally qualified health center in central Maine, followed by eight years in the Emergency Department at Mid Coast Hospital.
Teresa feels she has finally found her niche in the field of oncology, which encompasses both the critical thinking aspects of the emergency department, as well as the opportunity to develop relationships with patients and their families similar to the family practice setting.
Teresa and her family are avid skiers and also enjoy cycling, hiking and camping in Maine and other parts of New England.
