Team Smith

Dr. Jillian Smith is a compassionate and highly skilled breast surgeon dedicated to providing exceptional care to patients facing breast cancer and related conditions. A native of Massachusetts, Dr. Smith is proud to call New England her home. After spending five years leading surgical oncology and breast surgery programs in Pennsylvania, she returned to New England in 2021, where she has been instrumental in expanding breast surgical care for the community.

Dr. Smith earned her undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University and completed medical school and general surgery residency at the University of Massachusetts. To further specialize, she pursued a fellowship in Complex General Surgical Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center, achieving board certifications in both General Surgery and Complex General Surgical Oncology. Her career has been defined by leadership, serving as site director for surgical oncology and program director for breast surgery during her time in Pennsylvania.

Now a key member of the surgical team at New England Cancer Specialists, Dr. Smith brings a patient-centered approach to care. A cancer diagnosis impacts more than just the patient—it touches their entire family. Her goal is to provide the highest level of care while being a source of support and understanding for her patients during a challenging time.

Dr. Smith is thrilled to be partnering with her colleagues to build an exceptional surgical program at NECS’s Center for Breast Health. They are committed to delivering industry leading treatments and personalized care.

Outside of work, Dr. Smith enjoys time with her husband, their two energetic young children, and their spunky little dog. An outdoor enthusiast, she enjoys exploring Maine’s natural beauty and staying active with her family.
