COVID-19 Vaccine Update
We know many of you are curious about the COVID-19 vaccine and when it might be available to you. Here are answers to three of the most common questions we have been hearing:
1. Can I be on the list (for the vaccine)?
Many of you have asked if you can be added to "the list" for the COVID-19 vaccine. There is no list for the vaccine. NECS is waiting for information from the CDC to see if we will be asked to be a location where vaccines are distributed/given. As we have not been selected as a site for distribution or administration, we have no vaccine on site and cannot order vaccine.
2. When will NECS offer the COVID-19 vaccine to patients?
NECS does not know if we will be asked by the state to distribute and administer vaccine. As we have not been selected as a site for distribution or administration, we have no vaccine on site and cannot order vaccine. We are standing by for more information from CDC as they finalize their plans.
3. How will the vaccine be distributed in Maine and New Hampshire?
In both Maine and New Hampshire, the CDC has said the vaccine will be distributed in phases. Both states are currently in Phase 1. Phase 1 will be split into two parts, due to the potentially limited availability of doses of the vaccine.
Phase 1a) High risk workers in health care facilities and first responders
Phase 1b) People of all ages with comorbid and underlying conditions that put them at significantly higher risk, and older adults living in congregate or overcrowded settings
The interim draft vaccination plans for both states can be found here:
