Highlights from 2015 Track Season

Summer of 2015 brought us beautiful weather for the inauguration of the first NECS Corporate Track Team! Nine brave and adventurous souls completed three full track meets, competing against seven other Maine companies, ranging in size and talent. Competitors from Unum and MaineHealth brought in groups as large as 75, and then there was us, fierce and up for any challenge! Of our nine team members, four of us are pushing 40, while the the other five are around 54 and holding! In our first meet, we finished with enough points to take second in our division with only seven players!

 

Highlights of our season include Mike B. (Andrea’s husband) running a relay in his golf shoes…Peter, (Anita’s husband) and Mike high jumping for the 1st time in over 40 years…Dr. Evans stopping by to fly through the 5K course in 19 minutes, with just enough time to shower and be ready to work the weekend clinic…April and Andrea throwing shot, javelin, and discus to place first and second every time…and the rest of us, Anita, Tom, Maria and Stephanie, ran our hearts out in every distance available, and threw everything we could! We all placed in our age groups, which is very commendable for a team of nine! We had a great time together, making new friends among ourselves and enjoying the wonderful camaraderie with the people from the other teams. At work we are different departments, working together towards a common goal, and on the track team we are all one, just out to have a great time and a few laughs! Looking forward to summer of 2016 already and can’t wait to do this all over again!
